Scholarships

To assist young men and women in continuing their education beyond high school, local American Legion Posts gave more than $3.6 million in scholarships during the 2000-2001 reporting year.

The 2008 scholarships have already been awarded. Check back at the end of 2008 or the beginning of 2008 for next years' scholarship applications.

Maine American Legion Scholarships Available:

Children and Youth Scholarships
- seven, $500 scholarships. Criteria: must demonstrate financial need. Deadline May 1 of each year.  Click here for a printable application.

Daniel E. Lambert Memorial Scholarship
- $1000. (two scholarships may be awarded contingent upon the availability of funds) Criteria: must demonstrate financial need, must be a resident of the State of Maine, U.S. Citizen, parent must be a veteran. Deadline May 1 of each year. Click here for a printable application.

James V. Day Scholarship
- $500. (two scholarships may be awarded contingent upon the availability of funds) Criteria: must demonstrate financial need, must be a resident of the State of Maine, U.S. Citizen, parent must be a member of the Maine American Legion. Deadline May 1 of each year. Click here for a printable application.
